A free virtual number is easy to get, but most free numbers are either shared with everyone or are VoIP lines that apps refuse. This guide explains the kinds of virtual numbers and which ones actually receive verification codes.
Apps run a carrier lookup before sending a code. VoIP numbers are flagged, and public numbers that have verified hundreds of accounts are blocked. That is why the code "never arrives" on many free sites.
A private non-VoIP number from a mobile carrier, used once per app. Here it costs from a few cents and you pay only if the code arrives. For India, Nigeria and other countries, our free numbers rotate real local mobile numbers for one code each.
Indian apps send codes from registered sender names and many offer the code on WhatsApp first; choose SMS. See the free Indian number page for format and tips.
Public ones are not private: anyone can read your code. Use them only for tests.
It is usually a VoIP or recycled number. WhatsApp needs a real mobile line it has not seen recently.
