Snapchat Verification Code Not Received? 8 Fixes That Work

Posted on 01/11/26 02:32 am

Snapchat code not arriving? Check the number, ask for a call instead of a text, or verify by email. 8 fixes, plus what to do with two-factor codes.

Snapchat sends a code when you add a phone number, log in on a new device, or reset your password. If two-factor authentication is on, it also asks for a code at login. Here is how to get the code when it does not show up.

Check these first (30 seconds)

  • Country and number. Pick the country and type the number without a leading 0.
  • Call or email. Snapchat may offer "Call me instead" or verification by email.
  • Spam and filtered texts. Check the spam or "unknown senders" folder.
  • Two-factor method. If you set up an authenticator app, the login code is there.

8 fixes, in order

  1. Re-enter the number. Go back and check the country and digits.
  2. Resend once. Wait for the timer and request one new code.
  3. Ask for a call. Choose the call option if Snapchat shows it.
  4. Verify with email. Use the email option if offered, and check that inbox and spam.
  5. Use your authenticator or recovery code. For two-factor login, open your authenticator app or enter a saved recovery code.
  6. Turn off SMS filters and update the app. Pause blockers and install the latest Snapchat.
  7. Wait out a limit. After "too many attempts", wait a few hours.
  8. Use Snapchat Support. If you lost the number, use the help pages at support.snapchat.com.

Two-factor authentication on Snapchat

Snapchat's two-factor login can use text codes or an authenticator app. Save the recovery code when you turn it on: it is the way back in if you lose your phone or number.

If you change your number, update it in Settings → Mobile Number while you are still logged in.

When your own number just won't work

If texts from Snapchat never arrive, another mobile number can receive the code.

In that case a non-VoIP number is the practical fix. These are real mobile-carrier numbers, which is what Snapchat expects. On SMS Pin Verify you can pick a USA number for Snapchat and the code appears on screen in your account:

  • One-time number: held for you for 15 minutes to receive one code. If no code arrives, you are not charged. Good for a single sign-up.
  • Rental number: the same number for several days or longer. Pick this if the number stays on the account, because Snapchat sends a code for new devices and password resets.

Two honest limits: a code is never guaranteed, because Snapchat decides whether to send it; and a number may have been used on Snapchat before you, so start a fresh account rather than trying to recover an old one.

Keep your account after you get in

  • Verify your email as a second way in.
  • Turn on two-factor with an authenticator app and save the recovery code.
  • Update your number before you change it.
  • Never share a Snapchat code. Friends asking for it may be on a hacked account.
