Airbnb Verification Code Not Received? 7 Fixes That Work

Posted on 01/11/26 02:53 am

Airbnb code not arriving? Check the country code, ask once, then choose a call or WhatsApp if offered. 7 fixes for guests and hosts.

Airbnb asks you to confirm a phone number when you sign up, book or host, and sends a code when you log in on a new device. Guests and hosts both rely on this number for messages about stays, so it matters which number you use.

Check these first (30 seconds)

  • Country code. Airbnb works worldwide; pick your country before typing the number.
  • Call or WhatsApp. Airbnb may offer a phone call or WhatsApp instead of a text.
  • Spam and filtered texts. Check spam or "unknown senders".
  • Email. Login checks can also come by email.

7 fixes, in order

  1. Re-enter the number. Choose the right country and type the number without a leading 0.
  2. Resend once. Wait, then request one new code.
  3. Choose a call or WhatsApp. Use the other delivery options Airbnb offers.
  4. Turn off SMS filters. Pause blockers and allow roaming texts if you are abroad.
  5. Update the app or use the website. Try airbnb.com in a browser.
  6. Wait out a limit. After "too many attempts", wait a few hours.
  7. Contact Airbnb. Use the Help Center if your number changed and you are locked out.

Guests and hosts

Hosts and guests message through the app, but Airbnb shares the confirmed number once a booking is confirmed so you can reach each other. Use a number you will answer during the stay.

Airbnb may also ask for ID verification. That is a separate step and a phone number does not replace it.

When your own number just won't work

If Airbnb codes never reach your number, another mobile number can receive them.

In that case a non-VoIP number is the practical fix. These are real mobile-carrier numbers, which is what Airbnb expects. On SMS Pin Verify you can pick a USA number for Airbnb and the code appears on screen in your account:

  • One-time number: held for you for 15 minutes to receive one code. If no code arrives, you are not charged. Good for a single sign-up.
  • Rental number: the same number for several days or longer. Pick a rental for Airbnb, because guests or hosts may text the number during a stay and Airbnb sends codes for new devices.

Two honest limits: a code is never guaranteed, because Airbnb decides whether to send it; and a number may have been used on Airbnb before you, so start a fresh account rather than trying to recover an old one.

Keep your account after you get in

  • Keep your email verified for login checks.
  • Turn on two-step verification if offered in Login & security.
  • Update your number before trips.
  • Never share an Airbnb code. Hosts or guests asking for it, or to pay outside Airbnb, are scammers.
